I like the idea of a forum on which to share insights, observations, thoughts, and other things. At the same time I don't think that this should be a journal or a travel log, so I may or may not share personal events. That is, of course, dependent upon their relevance to the current topic.
One of the main reasons for me getting into blogging was a quote by President Gordon B. Hinckley (former president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) that a good friend shared on her blog:
"I am asking that we look a little deeper for the good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment virtue and effort. What I am suggesting is that you turn from the negativism that so permeates our modern society and look for the remarkable good among those with whom you associate, that we speak of one another's virtues more than we speak of one another's faults, that optimism replace pessimism, that our faith exceed our fears."
I have decided to make an effort to do this -- to stop criticizing, and to look more closely for the good around me. This blog is a way I think I can heed a prophet's counsel.
